First Phase of Construction

by Womens Recovery Center

October 2, 2017

Since March 6th, nine staff members, four interns and 45 clients were sealed in this confining temporary space to work throughout the renovation and reconfiguration of the Women’s Recovery Center, but in 32 more days, we will emerge from this first phase construction and begin using our newly renovated space. Frances Lynn, LPCC, ATR, our Art Therapist, has provided a “Kaboom!” design for the wall that the staff will “break through” when the time comes. The Center has researched and developed new and additional programming to implement a new treatment on demand concept. The Women’s Recovery Center is qualified and prepared to begin working with clients that are in active addiction through sustainable recovery.

As the construction updates are shared, the progress is energizing. It is exciting to compare the poured concrete floor to the ground and polished, newly-finished floor. It is beautiful. The building addition provides sufficient and efficient space to double our capacity to offer access to addiction treatment for women and their families.

TCPI has donated $22,000 of in-kind lighting and emergency signage. The lighting is essential to create a therapeutic environment for recovery and for the wellness of the staff members and interns. TCPI began this journey with the Women’s Recovery Center in filming the ground breaking and demolition work and earlier with the lighting being installed in the on-site childcare center. Megan Romocean is preparing a case study that will chronicle the project from start to completion.
