About The Women's Center
Annual Report
Founded in 1986 with a small office, a
few programs, and a bold vision, The Women's Center of Greater Cleveland
has grown to offer a broad range of support services for women and their
families. Today, the mission of The Women’s Center is “providing
opportunities for women to take greater control over their lives –
physically, emotionally and economically.”
Hopeless, desperate, frightened and angry…these
are just a few of the emotions that women entering through the doors
of the Women’s Center are experiencing. Women who seek help from
The Women's Center come from different races, cultures, religions, socioeconomic
and educational backgrounds, all are at critical points in their lives.
They have taken the first step towards change, but they need drug and
alcohol treatment, support and encouragement to gain self-sufficiency
and achieve their dreams. This past year, The Women's Center staff provided
more 9,900 units of services for over 2,100 women and their families.
Empowerment begins the moment a woman
contacts The Women's Center. When a woman enters a program, her input
is solicited, respected, and honored. Women participate in making decisions
about services, treatment goals and life decisions with staff members,
counselors, and volunteers.
The Women’s Center was recognized
by the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board of Cuyahoga County
as the Adult Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility of the Year in Cuyahoga
County and presented the John F. Lewis Award as an Outstanding Outpatient
Treatment Facility.
